Toyota K 505 knitting machine

Toyota K505 knitting machine is a turn-knob knitting machine manufactured in the mid- to late-1960s. It is a standard-gauge machine with 200 needles, 4.5 mm apart.

This machine looks similar to its predecessors, Toyota K 109 and K 111. However, carriage of Toyota K 505 had five buttons (not six like K109 and K111 models).A new feature on the carriage is a knitting lever (a slot on the right-hand side’s of the carriage).

If you are wondering what the buttons on the carriage mean, look for a blog post or a manual for the Toyota K 506 knitting machine. Some models come with English writing.

The machine’s pattern center includes two turn knobs: one is very likely for the combination of needles to be selected and another is probably for shifting this combinations left or right (needs to be confirmed).

However, Toyota K505 still has a slide-in row counter and similar accessories, including a ratchet tool (probably to activate the needle selection but I am still confirming it), S-shaped table clamps and a detachable screw-on carriage handle.

A white tool with wheeled brushes inside the lid in the picture below looks very unusual. I am not sure yet what it is.

I am still not sure what the ratchet tool does: very likely activates the needle selection but form the pictures I do not see where it would attach,

Stay tuned while I look for more information on this machine and in the meantime below are my observations and pictures.
