Charting devices help to create shaped fabric (to knit sweaters and other items of clothing) when knitting on knitting machines.
Depending on the brand/manufacturer/country, the charting devices can be called a variety of names: knit leader (by Brother), “knit contour” (By Singer/Silver Reed), “knit radar” by Studio, “knit tracer” (by Toyota), “knit copy” (by JUKI) and even “patterngraph” (by Empisal). Pheeewww…what a variety of names!!
By the way, check out machines with built-in knit leaders.

….by JUKI
Charting devices by JUKI do not have their model numbers written on them. But they all have very distinct color schemes: KC3 has an orange color scheme, KC5 – beige and orange, KC7 – yellow tint, and KC8 – red. I also see blue and green knit copies, but still figuring out what model numbers those are. Stay tuned!

Charting devices for Toyota knitting machines (knit tracers) attach on the right side of the needlebed, unlike Brother and Silver Reed models, which attach on the left. Different models are (similar to JUKI knit copies) not marked with a number but are rather color coded: e.g., K20 is blue, K32 is yellow, and K33 is orange.
