Knit Radar KR5

Knit Radar KR-5 was released under the Empisal Knitmaster and Silver Reed to accessorized knitting machines manufactured under the Silver/Singer/Studio/Silver Reed/Empisal/Riccar brand names.

KR5 model has some distinct differences from its later couterpart: KR6 (check out the corresponding post and you will see them right away). Thus, it is hard to say if KR5 is compatible with the same knitting machines models as KR6.

But the most distinct feature is underneath the knit radar, where is connects to the knitting machine bed: in KR6 there are just two connecting holes while in KR5 there are several.

The manual mentions several combinations of how KR5 knit leader can be attached to the machines and mentions some of the knitting machine models KR5 can be used with.

Specifically, it can be used with Empisal Knitmaster mod. 250, Empisal Knitmaster mod. 305, Silver SK305, Silver SK302, and Knitmaster ES302. It is possible KR5 knit radar is also compatible with Silver SK301, Studio SK301, Silver SK303 and Studio SK303 models because they are very similar to 305 and 302 models.

Another distinct feature is the counter tripper levers: in KR5 there are two independent ones while in all other knit leaders there only one.

It was very likely that KR5 knit radar when first appeared on the market was intended for the knitting machines with the buzzer (the first generation of punchcard-based knitting machines by Silver Reed and Co.). IN fact the manual mentions 313 knitting machine model.

I am researching further which other knitting machines KR5 is compatible with.
