Silver Reed SK151 knitting machine has 110 needles, 9 mm apart.

It is considered a bulky knitting machine. It has only basic patterning capabilities: all patterning can be done by manually manipulating the needles and stitches.

Silver Reed SK151 appeared on the market in the 1984. Its predecessor, Silver Reed SK150 was released to the market in the early 1980s.

However, despite this, the machines are very similar. Although, Silver Reed SK151 also has a mint-green version.

One major difference in these machines is that Silver Reed SK151 has a sinker plate with weaving brushes while SK150 model does not.

This machine comes with typical (for Silver Reed knitting machines) major accesories: sinker plate, tension mast, and a tool box.

The minor accesories in the tool box are also pretty standard.

Knitting machine Silver Reed SK151 can be additionally accessorized with a ribber Silver Reed SR150 (or Studio/Singer ribbers with the same model number, SR150), Silver Reed SR151, PS150 pattern selector and knit leaders with model numbers KR6, KR7, KR10 and with some modifications KR11.

It is very likely that Silver Reed SK151 model was meant for the Japanese market sonly (judging by the writing in Japanese on the carriage).

Clones of Silver Reed SK151 for the Western markets are also known under other names, such as Singer mod. 151, and Empisal Knismaster mod. 151.

Despite being just a “basic” machine, it handles thicker yarns wonderfully.

The manual mentions that intarsia can be needed without additional accessories.

There is also what seems to be a super bulky Silver Reed SK151 knitting machine: notice how the groove for needles are cut for every third needle. I am still looking for more information on this strange super bulky Silver Reed SK151.
