Toyota K 108 knitting machine

Although there is not much information available on the Internet on Toyota K108, I believe this machine was released to the market in the early- to mid-1960s.

It is often simply called Toyota APK due to the writing on the case.

It is a standard-gauge (4.5 mm) knitting machine with 200 needles.

Vintage features of the Toyota K 108 include a clip-on row counter, detachable carriage handle, and S-shape vintage table clamps. Similarly to the Toyota K 107, it has a retaining bar with a sponge strip.

Similarly to the Toyota K 106 model, the K108 machine has an interesting side mechanism on the carriage (I am still unsure what it is).

Similar “manual-only” knitting machines manufactured by Toyota are K104, K106 and K107.

However, the carriage of the Toyota K108 model looks more modern: the buttons are rectangular and there are additional buttons on the front of the carriage.

The same carriage design is seen in the later and more advanced (with turn knobs for patterning) models, like Toyota K 109.
