The Silver SK101 knitting machine was made by a Japanese company in 1962. This is a basic model capable of only knitting patterns by hand-manipulating the needles and stitches. It is a standard-gauge knitting machine with 200 needles, spaced 4.5 mm apart from each other. It is basically the same model as Studio SK101 and Singer 313, Singer 315 and Singer 312 machines.

It can be accessorized with a Silver SR101 ribbing attachment. Ribbers Studio SR101 and ribbers for Singer 312-315 machines will also match. The standard setup comes with the needle selector (it looks like a mini carriage). It pushes the needles into C or B position (depending on the setting on this mini carriage) and selects needles according to the number set on the dial. Refer to the manual (available online for free) for further details on how to use this needle-selecting mini-carriage.

Similar basic knitting machines manufactured by Silver (later Silver Reed) are models SK102, SK103, SK105 and SK106 as well as Studio SK-102, Studio SK-103, Studio SK-106, in addition to Singer 200-E and Singer 800.
