Silver Reed SK8 knitting machine is a standard-gauge knitting machine with 200 needles, 4.5 mm apart.

It is a truly vintage piece of machinery, manufactured in the late 1950s: metal end caps, round clip-on row counter, detachable handle, metal toolbox, and spring-like mast.

It is a basic knitting machine: needle selection and stitch manipulation can be done only manually.

Surprisingly, a manual for the Silver Reed SK8 can be found online for free. Additionally, Silver Reed SK8 machine can be attached to a ribber, Silver Reed SR-200 to convert to a double-bed setup.

Similar vintage machines manufactured by Silver Reed are SK6, SK7 and SK10, as well as Silver SK8 and Studio SK8. However, unlike SK7 and SK10, Silver Reed SK8 model uses flat (not S-shaped) table clamps.
