Singer mod. 740 knitting machine was manufactured in Japan. It is one of the latest punchcard machines manufactured back in the 1980s.

Singer mod. 740 has 200 needles, 4.5 mm apart, which makes this machine a standard-gauge. It has a built-in knit leader.

Singer mod. 740 is identical to Singer MemoMatic 700 (on which I wrote a very detailed blog post already) but does not have a built-in intarsia capabilities like MemoMatic 700 does. However, intarsia can be accomplished with a stand-alone AG20 intarsia carriage.
“Sisters” to this knitting machine are Studio By White SK740, described in my other post.
