I am a proud owner of a very rare knitting machine – 11 mm -gauge super bulky Studio SK121.
Join my journey of learning about this machine hands-on.
I am going to start with some pictures and will add more information as I learn more about this beauty.

Studio SK121 has 98 needles, spaced 11 mm apart from each other. even though it is considered a super-bulky knitting machine, the needles are the same as for the bulky (8 mm gauge) Studio SK120 (also known as Silver Sk120 and Silver Reed SK120). In fact, a lot of features of SK121 are almost identical to its sisters with the SK120 model numbers.

The retaining bar is a very narrow almost rod-like bar. It is also similar to the retaining bar for the Silver Reed SK120. The sponge strip for this retaining bar is 43 inches long, 3/8 inches high, and 1/8 wide. Check out my post for the Silver Reed SK120 model for recommendations on the sponge strip for the retaining bar. Also watch my video installing it.

The machine comes with a standard set of accessories: table clamps, a needle selection ruler, stitch transfer tools, a detachable row counter, and table clamps.

Everything is big about this machine: claw weights, transfer tools, cast-on comb teeth, even the unravel cord.

The carriage handle folds for storage.

One feature that is definitely different is the tension mast. Looks like it can take 4 threads.
Since needles are of the same size, I am very curious how the machine handles thicker yarn and what is the thickest yarn I can use. Obviously, with the 11 mm distance between the needles, the thickness for the SK121 will be higher but the limit will be also defined by what needles can latch on.
