Brother KH811 knitting machine

Brother KH811 is a very unique knitting machine as it (to the best of my knowledge) is the only machine made by Brother (and maybe even the only one in the whole knitting-machine world) that combines punchcard and pushbutton needle selection and pattering mechanisms.

It is a standard-gauge knitting machine with 200 needles. It was very likely made for Japanese markets only as it has a lot of Japanese writing on the carriage and the machine itself.

I tried to find a manual and any additional information on how exactly the pushbutton and punchcard needle selection tandem works but I am still looking… If you are reading it and you have more information, please, contact me so we can extend the knowledge base for our community.

The main questions I have at the moment are: how are the pushbuttons are activated? (I don’t see a ratchet tool in the tool set), how having pushbuttons helps with the punchcard-based needle selection…?

But you can still enjoy the pictures of this machine posted below.
