Brother KH-131-48 knitting machine

Brother KH-131-48 knitting machine is a fine-gauge machine with 348 needles (3.5 mm apart), an extended needlebed, and only intarsia and stockinette knitting capabilities.

At the moment, I cannot figure out whether it is a “new” or vintage, or both, knitting machine. By “new” I mean made not from old Japanese blueprints but from newly made or updated designs (like Taxiterma or Creative Chinese manufacturers do with old Japanese models). By “old” I mean a truly vintage machine that is no longer made. By “Both”: It was indeed made back in the 20th century and revived again by modern manufacturers from old blueprints.

It looks like it does not have a typical metal case with a lid: just the needle bed, which seems quite bare.

So, this model is very intriguing, and I am looking through old magazines to understand more about it. Stay tuned!
