Two-color Brother Garter Carriages

Every garter carriage can be converted to a two-color carriage. Basically, it is a plating technique.

There are several version of the special adapters needed to convert your garter carriage onto a two-color garter carriage.

The learning curve might seem steep. On top of your already acquired skills on a regular garter carriage, it might take a while to figure out the right combination of yarns and tensions, cast-on techniques and whether to use or not (and if yes then when) the cast-on comb. You probably already know by now that single-color garter carriage takes yarns a bit thicker than a standard-gauge machine can. Well, the same yarn might not work with a two color garter carriage even if by itself because due to the design of the adapter, the yarn tension changes a bit.

This special add-on/replacement/adapter to convert a regular garter carriage into a two-color plating one can be purchased: search on FaceBook a group called Garter Carriages and it will have info how to purchase one (I am not affiliated with them and I do not earn any commissions).

Because I am forgetful, I am keeping notes on my garter carriage projects. Because I loose my notes, I am collecting it all in my “two-color garter carriage diary“.
