Knitting Machines manufactured by Brother Co.

Japanese company Brother manufactured a wide variety of knitting machines till the mid-1990s. They often branded their models under different names (besides just Brother), such as Defendi (in Italy), some Empisal machines (for the Australian and New Zealand markets), Erka, KnitKing, Genie (some models), and Jones (for UK markets). There are still machines, many in excellent shapes, on the second-hand market to fulfill the needs of hobbyists, artists, and small production knitters.

Because of the specificity of the technology of the Brother knitting machines (which is different from those in knitting machines from other manufacturers), possible problems with the carriages of Brother knitting machines are often pretty specific to Brother. Some of them (together with their solutions) are outlined in my other article.
