The lace carriagers below are those sold as add-ons to the stand-alone knitting machines. Brother lace carriages, despite their distinct differences, are not listed in here because they typically come with lace carriages in their standard setups. As a result, Brother lace carriages do not have any model numbers assigned to them. I am working on a separate article about Brother lace carriages just to show how different/similar they are so the knitters will have a better idea whether their machine comes with a lace carriage and cross-compatibility of lace carriages with other models.
The majority of lace carriages transfer the stitch from one needle to the next in the direction of the carriage movement. The first needle is slightly bent toward the next one and the stitch is transferred. The only carriages that also knit, are those for Singer/Silver Reed/Empisal/Studio/Riccar knitting machines. These are also typically stand-alone carriages, with their own model numbers, sold separately from the main setup. The majority of them is listed below.
- Lace carriage model LC1, for standard Silver Reed/Studio/Empisal Knitmaster/Singer machines.
- Lace carriage model LC2, for standard Silver Reed/Studio/Empisal Knitmaster/Singer machines. To the best of my current knowledge, LC2 carriages fit the same knitting machines as 360/260L carriages. At the moment, I am also not sure about their differences.
- Lace Corona 3.5
- Lace carriage model 360/260L, for standard Silver Reed/Studio/Empisal Knitmaster/Singer machines. To the best of my current knowledge, 360/260L carriages fit the same knitting machines as LC2 carriages (well, at the moment, I am also not sure about their differences).
- Silver Reed LC370, for fine-gauge Studio/Silver Reed/Singer SK370 machines
- Lace carriages 560L, for standard-gauge electronic Studio/Silver Reed/Singer (SK)560 machines. All carriages below are interchangeable to fit any 560-model knitting machines.
