Brother KH395 is a dual-gauge convertible knitting machine. The panels for conversion from bulky to standard gauge are stored inside the styrofoam padding inside the box.
The needles though are the same for both bulky and standard knitting. Not having a convertible machine yet in my collection, I am not sure whether the yarn range for this machine is as wide as some people say because the needles might still be too small for some thicker yarns or too big to form tight stitches for the thinner yarns.
Do not confuse this model with the KX395 machine since they are actually slightly different (even though both are convertible) but I am still figuring out what this difference is since I cannot find the manual for the Brother KH390:) I now know for sure that Brother KX395 has built-in intarsia capabilities.
Brother manufactured several other dual-gauge knitting machines – Brother KH360, KH390, and KH400. Brother KH395 is a little bit advanced compared to KH360 and KH390, since it has a separate tension mast stand holder (and it is NOT on the carriage like in these other models).
Stay tuned as I find more information on this machine.
